Plan the whole ownership chain

Estimate how long the first user will keep the phone and whether it will later be handed down. The support window should cover the full chain, not only the first contract. Recalculate remaining time from the actual end date instead of repeating the original policy length.

Match every physical device

Keep each phone's model code and region with its receipt, case label, or household inventory. Similar names can hide different variants. Do not store or share IMEI, serial, account, or child information in a public correction request.

Separate platform and family features

Parental-control apps, school apps, and family sharing have their own compatibility rules. Confirm device security support and app requirements independently. An app continuing to open after support ends does not mean the platform is receiving fixes.

Budget for batteries and accidental damage

Check model-specific repair evidence and local service options before purchase. For covered EU phones, use the label and EPREL product record for standardized fields. Treat missing parts, price, or battery data as unknown rather than assuming the best case.

Prepare a safe handover

Install all available updates, back up necessary data, remove the prior user's accounts, reset through the official process, and verify activation with the next user. Recheck recalls and support status at every hand-down because both can change during ownership.
