GUIDED DEVICE CHECK
Check the record, patch and real-world use
This tool does not auto-detect hardware, collect device identifiers or invent a single safety score. Match the exact model and region before relying on the result.
STEP 1
Match the exact record
Your evidence-based result will appear here
Select the exact device record. DevLifeCheck will keep policy support, actual patch age and your use case as separate signals.
How the guided check works
- Match the exact device. Pick the record whose model number and region match your device. Carrier and regional variants can differ.
- Enter the installed patch date. This shows whether your device is actually receiving the updates its manufacturer promises.
- Say how you use it. Banking, work accounts and children’s devices need a larger safety margin than a spare or media device.
The result combines the recorded support window with your patch age. It is guidance, not a safety certificate. Read what end of support means and how to identify your exact model.
Common questions
Where do I find my phone's security patch date?
On most Android phones open Settings › About phone › Android version and read 'Android security update'. On Samsung Galaxy phones open Settings › About phone › Software information. On an iPhone open Settings › General › About and note the iOS version.
How old can my security patch be before I should worry?
A patch that is one to three months old is normal for many phones on monthly or quarterly schedules. If it is more than six months old, check for updates; if none arrive and the device is past its recorded support date, treat it as unsupported.
Does this check collect my device information?
No. You choose the device and type the patch date yourself. The check runs in your browser and does not read hardware identifiers.
