Saved devices

The Saved Devices tool stores selected device-page slugs in your browser's local storage, together with the last viewed documented builds or iOS versions for covered models and software channels. This list is not uploaded to DevLifeCheck, does not identify a physical handset and can be cleared with the Remove controls or by clearing browser site data.

First-party aggregate analytics

DevLifeCheck counts page views and completed update-tracker comparisons by calendar day and normalized page path. Your entered build code is compared locally and is not sent with analytics. Device and channel links can preselect public records; those URL parameters are processed to render the page. The first-party analytics table stores only the event name, path, day and aggregate count—no IP address, user agent, cookie, device identifier, query string or cross-site profile. Admin and login pages are excluded. These counts add a small capped signal to the editorial research queue and are not used for advertising.

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics 4 loads only after you select Accept analytics. If accepted, Google may process page paths, browser and device information, referral information and approximate geographic information, and may store analytics cookies. DevLifeCheck sends page paths without query strings, disables Google Signals and advertising-personalization signals in the site tag, and excludes admin and editorial-login pages. With consent, we also send browser performance measurements (LCP, INP and CLS), their ratings and a temporary per-page metric identifier to diagnose loading, interaction and layout problems. These events exclude form values, DOM details and URL query strings; alerts-management pages are excluded from performance reporting.

Your choice is stored in this browser. Use the visible Analytics settings control on this Privacy page to accept, decline or withdraw consent at any time. Declining does not limit public site features. Google acts as an analytics provider; its own data handling is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Information submitted by you

The correction form stores the device or model, page URL, correction details, optional evidence URL and optional email address. An email is used only to clarify that submission. Do not include passwords, payment details, government identifiers or unrelated personal information.

Optional email alerts

Alert signup stores the selected device, optional iPhone model release selection or exact Samsung software channel, last notified release, consent and verification timestamps, delivery status, a one-way duplicate-control hash and an encrypted email address. A separate encrypted management token lets each message offer pause, resume and permanent deletion controls. Signup requires email verification; no alert starts from an unverified address.

The configured email delivery provider processes the address and message only to deliver the requested alert. Alerts cover material published lifecycle, recall, repairability and evidence changes, plus newly verified software releases only when you explicitly select and confirm a covered iPhone model or Samsung model/channel. Existing subscriptions are not automatically opted into release alerts. They are not advertising and do not replace manufacturer or regulator notices.

Operational data

The hosting provider may process standard request metadata such as time, requested path, user agent, approximate network information and error logs to deliver and protect the service. DevLifeCheck does not currently sell personal information or use cross-site advertising profiles.

Retention and access

First-party aggregate analytics are retained without identifiers for editorial planning. Google Analytics retention follows the connected property's configuration and your consent choice. Correction records are retained while they are reviewed and for an editorial audit period after closure. Paused alert data remains available for reactivation; the management link can permanently delete the encrypted address, subscription and delivery history. Operational logs follow the hosting provider's configured retention. Access is limited to authorized editorial and operational staff.

Shopping links and optional click measurement

When configured, replacement comparisons may include clearly labelled Amazon affiliate links. These open Amazon only after you click; the retailer receives your request and the referral tag and applies its own privacy policy. No retailer script or advertising pixel is loaded by these links on DevLifeCheck.

We measure comparison and badge-copy interactions, affiliate-link clicks and views of visible shopping links through Google Analytics only after you accept optional analytics. Event details contain catalog slugs, the page path, shopping-link placement and page language, not email addresses or query strings. You can withdraw this consent with Analytics settings. Declining analytics does not prevent you from using comparisons or shopping links. Retailer privacy choices must be managed on the retailer’s site.

Affiliate relationships do not change support dates, evidence grades or which devices appear in comparisons. The public site remains usable without an account, Google Analytics consent or email alert.
