Identify the scoring scheme
A score has meaning only with its scheme name, version, jurisdiction, scale, and model match. Two programs can weight tools, spare parts, manuals, software, and disassembly differently. Never rank devices by bare numbers collected from different schemes.
Use the official product record
For covered EU products placed on the market from June 2025, the energy label and EPREL record provide standardized information including repairability and battery endurance. Match the supplier model identifier, not just the retail name, and retain the product-record link.
Read battery figures precisely
A rated cycle count describes a test threshold under defined conditions; it is not a promise that every battery will have identical health after the same use. Separate cycle durability, endurance per charge, replacement access, and any service commitment.
Check parts and service dates
Parts availability may run from the end of sales, while software support can use another start event. Record both rather than copying one date. Availability in one jurisdiction does not prove price, stock, or authorized service in another.
Combine repair and security horizons
A repair can be economical when several supported years remain, the exact part is available, and the device has no relevant safety notice. A strong repair score cannot compensate for ended security support in a high-risk use case; evaluate both timelines.
